The 10:30 Holy Eucharist this Sunday features choral works by two beloved American composers: Amy Beach and Alice Parker. Amy Beach lived 1867-1944 and experienced the limitations many female performers of her era did. Her marriage included the conditions that she should no longer be able to teach piano, and that she would limit herself to two public recitals per year. These limitations pushed Amy more into the realm of composition than performance as a musician. She was highly acclaimed by critics for her compositions within her own lifetime, an honor rarely afforded to women around the turn of the twentieth century. Her flamboyant setting of “All hail the power of Jesus’ name” brings a harmonic language that would have been at home in the middle of the 19th century in a joyous setting of this text, appropriate to celebrate the feast of Christ the King. Alice Parker lived 1925-2023, and was equally respected as a composer, arranger, conductor, and teacher. Parker left a massive musical output, including several operas and over 30 cantatas. Her arrangement of “Ride on, King Jesus” is haunting the sparsity of its texture. The melody always present and always clear.

Father Paul Jeanes lives in the house next to the parish hall. Join him, vestry members and fellow newcomers for refreshments and fellowship.  Then at 5 pm, optionally join Paul as he walks next door to the church for the evening prayers said during Compline.

Thanksgiving is almost here, and I’d like to thank all who are supporting Arm In Arm. The donations of time, food, and funds are appreciated. Last week during small group, the middle schoolers assembled breakfast kit bags for schoolchildren. They filled Ziploc bags with peanut butter crackers, a granola bar, a small cereal box, shelf-stable milk, and an applesauce.  

This Sunday is our last Sunday School class and Children's Chapel before Advent begins. Please fill out this interest form about the Christmas pageant. The first rehearsal is November 30th.

Arm and Arm Urgent request for Food Pantry Volunteers

In response to the government shutdown, Arm in Arm, a core Trinity outreach partner, is activating an emergency plan to serve 250 additional families weekly by extending pantry hours at two sites.  Volunteers are urgently needed to help staff these additional shifts at the food pantries listed below. Adult Formation Corner

On Tuesday, I went to the city to take part in a meeting of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd’s North American province. In my free time, I wandered over to the Met Museum and saw a truly delightful reliquary on display. The Chasse of Champagnat was made in Limoges around 1150 for the church of Saint-Martial. The art on the chasse reflects the local belief that St. Martial was sent to Gaul by St. Peter himself, and that he was in fact the 13th Apostle. This wasn’t true – St. Martial lived in the third century – but the local belief persisted until the 19th century. Pub Theology

Join us at 7:30 PM this Monday, and every Monday, at the Yankee Doodle Tap Room at the Nassau Inn, 10 Palmer Square. 

CHOIR TO LONDON

In August 2026, our choir will be on tour in the UK, first at Ely Cathedral and then at Westminster Abbey.

Trinity is putting together a trip for any parishioners who would like to support the choir while they are in London - and see the sights in London and beyond.

Whether you are a chorister parent, a spouse or friend of an adult choir member, or a Trinity parishioner who enjoys music, liturgy, and history, this trip is for you!

The tour will include day trips to Canterbury Cathedral and to Oxford, as well as activities in London itself. We will attend daily Evensong at Westminster Abbey, as well as the Sunday Eucharist at which Trinity's choir will sing.

2025 Turkey Trot

 It’s a SELLOUT!!!

Turkey Trot is upon us.  Thanksgiving morning will again be an amazing sea of runners and walkers kicking off their family holiday with so much energy.  The race is officially sold out.  All 2500 registration spots have been claimed!!!   We still need volunteers for Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The online volunteer sign up can be achieved at https://tinyurl.com/ya6zr9v8 or at the race website (www.trinityturkeytrot.org) and clicking on the Volunteer button. 

If you are coming to the race, please remember to bring some non-perishable food that we can send home with Arm in Arm in their van at the end of the day.  The November issue of Princeton Perspectives has included a piece about Turkey Trots in our area.  Fun and interesting story.

You buy a bag for a small fee, and then you fill it with cookies of your choice from the trays of delicious home-made cookies baked by fellow parishioners.  So please stop by after the 8am or 10:30 service, and enjoy this Christmas tradition!

Travel to the Holy Land

A couple of years back, some members of Trinity Church traveled with our Rector, Paul Jeanes, and The Rev. Keith Marsh and to the Holy Land.

It proved to be a marvelous and spiritually uplifting experience for all who made the pilgrimage! After retiring in June of 2023, Keith started Spirited Pilgrimages, a business devoted to planning, promoting and hosting unique, small-group pilgrimages around the world for people of faith.

Two pilgrimages have been planned for the fall of next year and you are invited to join: 

• The Footsteps of Paul – September 9-19, 2026 – travel through Turkey and Greece by land and sea - visit sites from the Book of Acts associated with St. Paul on his missionary journeys: Ephesus, Patmos, Corinth, Athens and more, including the islands of Crete and Santorini  

• Celtic Christianity – October 12-24, 2026 – follow the path of Christianity’s early years in the Celtic kingdoms, beginning in Ireland and expanding into Scotland and northern England – trace the spread of Celtic Christianity from its introduction by St. Patrick to its demise at the Council of Whitby.

These pilgrimages will be led by Keith, an experienced pilgrimage planner and host.
