Eleanor Daley is a living Canadian composer who is based in Toronto. She was appointed in 2022 to the Order of Canada, and has received numerous awards for her compositions. Her setting of “Set me as a seal” pairs a text about the enduring nature of God’s love with music that has a pleading nature, perhaps depicting our longing for God. From the very beginning of the work, upward moving melodies draw the listener in with a sense of hopefulness. As we begin the program year, perhaps this text can be an appropriate prayer for all of us:

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm, for love is strong as death.

Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.

May God’s all-pervading love surround us this year, and may we make our identity in that very love.

Rachel First

“Hello! My name is Rachel First, and I am a second-year M.Div. student at Princeton Theological Seminary. Growing up in a military family, I spent my childhood in both St. Louis, Missouri, and Santa Barbara, California, where I was active in youth ministry, Sunday school, and worship before moving to Chicago to complete my undergraduate degree in theology. I have worked as both a teaching and research assistant in theology throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, with specialized interests in medieval theology, church history, and the role of gender in religious language and tradition. In my free time, I enjoy practicing the harp, playing video games, and spending time with my beloved husband Zach and our parakeet, Quill. I have been a member of Trinity Church for over a year, and I am eager to serve the congregation as an intern!”

Rob Long  

“Greetings! I’m Rob Long, a second-year M. Div student at Princeton Theological Seminary, and yes I am usually the oldest student in my classes. I’m older than most of my professors, too. I came to this kind of work in a roundabout way. I was (and still am, sort of) a writer and producer of television comedy — most notably, “Cheers” — and have spent the past 30 years writing scripts and books and regular columns for places like Newsweek and Commentary. I also do a weekly 10-minute commentary podcast about the entertainment business, Martini Shot, which I hope is preparing me for preaching. A few years ago I felt a strong call to do something different and deeper with my writing and my life, and that’s why I’m here. There’s always time, I’ve learned, for a new story to unfold. Right now I’m a member of St. James Church in Manhattan, and am in the discernment process for ordination. Inshallah, as we Episcopalians say. I’ve loved being a member of the Trinity community and look forward to serving it this year!”

Emma Stewart 

“Hi everyone! I’m Emma Stewart, a second-year MDiv student at Princeton Theological Seminary from Birmingham, Alabama. I’m looking forward to meeting each of you throughout my time this year and learning about what makes Trinity Church such a special place. I have a background in elementary education and worked previously in children’s ministry, but I am looking forward to stretching my skills and trying new avenues of ministry at Trinity. In my free time, I love to read for fun (send me all your recommendations!) and walk on the canal path with my pup, Billie. I can’t wait for a great year!”

• Children and Family Ministries Fall Homecoming Celebration
  Saturday, September 6 from 4-6pm at New Market Farm, 125 Linvale Road, Ringoes, NJ 08551

This special event is for families who are involved with, or who are passionate about supporting, Trinity’s children and family ministries. Come enjoy local food, drinks, and frozen treats on the 18th-century farm of parishioner Patrick Beers and his fiancee, Liz Perry. This gathering will give families a chance to meet new staff members Anne Thomsen Lord, Director of Family Ministries, and Catherine Breed, Family Ministries Advisor as we begin the school year- and will explore how the campaign will help sustain these ministries well into the future.

It is that wonderful time of the year when we celebrate the beginning of our program year with our Homecoming Picnic! 

This year's picnic will be held on Sunday, September 7th, immediately following the 10:30am service.

We are in need of volunteers to help with set-up, serving, and clean up. Set-up will begin immediately following the 8:00am service between 8:45am and 9:00 am. 

We are also asking for donations of cookies and pre-cut dessert bars (no cakes or pies) for the picnic. 

Items should be labeled "Contains Nuts", "Vegan", or "Gluten Free".

Family Ministries Corner

Greetings from the Family Ministries team! We are excited to welcome you and your children back to Trinity. This year promises to be one filled with growth, fun, and meaningful connections. 

On Homecoming Sunday, September 7th, Children's Chapel (during the 10:30 service) and nursery care (9-noon) will be available. We are currently seeking volunteers to join the K-2nd and 3rd-5th grade Sunday School teams. We hope to launch these soon!

We’re looking forward to getting to know everyone and hearing how you would like to spend time with your church family. Drop us an email or meet with us. We love coffee!

Nicaea at 1700 Conference

October 26th- 28th

2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea and the Nicene Creed. This confession of the Triune God’s nature and action in the world set the stage for the development of Christian theology and worship as we know it today. 

Trinity Church invites you to a short conference on October 26th-28th to celebrate this anniversary. The conference will include lectures, choral liturgies, food, and fellowship. It will also include a Council of Nicaea role-playing game led by the Rev. Dr. Kirsten Guidero of Marist College. The conference is intended for interested laypeople and clergy, not only for academics, so please do join us!

50th Trinity Church Rummage Sale

Countdown to Trinity Church’s 50th Rummage Sale has Begun!

October 16th-18th

Donations will be accepted on Sundays after the 10:30 am service September 14th, 21st, 28th, and October 5th.

What time? Between Noon and 12:45

Where? At the PODs in the Trinity Parking Lot

Are reservations necessary? Yes, by email rummage@trinityprinceton.org

Can you make more than one reservation?  Yes

Which donations will help put our 50th sale over the top? 

Here are some suggestions based on past sales:

Jewelry – gold earrings & charm bracelets, broches with semi & precious stones, and costume items; books; clothes for men, women and children – “better” and “bargain”; framed art & treasures for the Boutique; craft & knitting supplies; holiday decorations & toys; housewares - glassware, fine and everyday china, kitchen pots & pans etc); linens; vintage items - hats, purses, scarves & gloves and dolls & doll houses with furniture; shoes & boots in good condition.

Electrical items in working order are in great demand: coffee pots, tea kettles, crock pots, blenders, toaster ovens & electric griddles; lamps; sewing machines; vacuum cleaners; holiday decorations with lights in working order; high-end sound systems; small TVs.

YOUR SUPPORT NEEDED

• Sundays at the PODs accepting donations

• Saturday, October 11 from 9:30-11 am setting up the sale

• Sunday, October 12 from1-3:30 pm bringing donations from PODs to rooms for the sale

• Monday-Thursday, October 13-16 any time between 9 am-2 pm setting up, displaying and pricing items

• Thursday-Saturday, October 16-18 at the sale: “meet and greet” and welcome shoppers; be a cashier or a “wrapper”; sell “art in the hallway” & shoes; help shoppers find a holiday gift; pass on information about Trinity Church; take unsold items to the Goodwill truck; be an unsung hero and help clear up and return the rooms for Sunday programs!!!
