Dear Beloved in Christ,

We began our Lenten journey with a song by Gregory Porter, Take me to the alley.

Take me to the alley

Take me to the afflicted ones

Take me to the lonely ones

That somehow lost their way

In the words of this beautiful and most profound song, we heard the invitation of Christ to go with him to our places of loneliness and despair, insecurity and fear, failure and sin — the places in our world and in our lives where we’ve lost our way.  

And now, as we enter Holy Week and the glorious celebration of Easter, we hear the loving proclamation, unrestricted invitation, and life-giving promise of the Risen Lord.

Let them hear me say

I am your friend

Come to my table

Rest here in my garden

You will have a pardon

We hear the Lord say, I am your friend, your Savior. Come and feast at my table. Find rest in my garden from the demands and travails of this world. And know that in and through my love, you are freed, pardoned, healed, and whole. What glorious truth and expansive love our Easter story reveals!  

My friends, the day is near. Come. Come and join us, as we celebrate the hope and promise of the Resurrection.
