Dear Good People of Trinity,

What an extraordinary year it has been at Trinity Church! Personally, the sabbatical surpassed all expectations, and on behalf of my family, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the time away. It was a truly life-changing experience—a gift that would have been impossible without your support and the Clergy Renewal Grant.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude to Kara Slade for her outstanding leadership during this time. We are blessed to have Kara as our Associate Rector. Her integrity, spirituality, intellect, and faithfulness inspire and uplift us all. I am also sincerely thankful to our dedicated staff, who sustain Trinity not only during this sabbatical season but every day, every week, throughout the year. Thank you to Annie, Lily, Meg, Joseph, Char, Donte, Enrique, and Roberto for your unwavering commitment and service. What an amazing team we have!

My sincere thanks as well to David Schneider, our Senior Warden; Victor Gibbs, our Junior Warden; Stephen Evans, our Finance Chair; and our incredible vestry. I am profoundly grateful for each lay leader, volunteer, team, and committee member. Thank you for your faithful service and dedication—I feel blessed to be part of such a remarkable community, and I am deeply appreciative of each one of you.

During the sabbatical, we spent time in sacred remembrance, reflecting on past seasons and recognizing how God has been with us through life’s journey. We engaged in soulful reflection, exploring God’s work in our hearts and souls in this present season. And we opened ourselves to God’s love, seeking renewal of heart, mind, body, and spirit in preparation for the journey ahead. This renewal is alive within us now.

 This fall, the energy and vitality at Trinity are palpable! Attendance and participation are up, members are engaging and re-engaging in a fresh and vibrant way, and newcomers continue to join us and are finding a home at Trinity Church. We are truly blessed. In a time when, unfortunately, many churches face decline, we are on the rise! This is our moment to rise to the occasion, to meet the challenges and opportunities before us. It is time for us to rise above our fears and anxieties and to dream the dream that God has for us. It is time for us to rise and boldly proclaim the love of God—a love beyond compare. It is time for us to rise with confidence and grace, courage and humility, to be the people of Trinity Church, through whom God can and will do infinitely more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Now is the time—our time—to proclaim, to serve, and to rise to the high and sacred calling of God.

What a blessing it is to journey through the seasons of life with Christ and with one another!

The quote that follows is from Presiding Bishop Stowe’s letter from earlier this week.  

“Regardless of our political allegiances, we must remember that God has called us in The Episcopal Church to seek and serve Christ in all persons….In the coming months, I ask us all to be agents of peace and reconciliation in our communities, both in person and online. As people of faith, we can work and pray for peace and unity among God’s people whether we are joyful, hurting, or afraid.”

This call to be a community of love and concern for one another is an answer to the question “Trinity Church who?”  When we consider why we come here, not just in the days after an election cycle like this, but every day, isn’t his message spot on?

Please think of his words and those in your hearts as you consider your pledge for the coming year.  To date, 143 of you have pledged a total of $564,236.  For those of you who have pledged, again we extend our thanks.  For those of you who are still considering, I urge you to say yes. Trinity Church – Journeying Together in Faith.

Dear all,

Many thanks to all for an amazing rummage sale this fall. We all appreciate the fantastic donations, moving the donations from POD's to Church, supporting us with lawn signs, setting up our sale rooms, supplying us with a contrast stream of support and volunteering directly with the sale!

Our sales were just fantastic this year which were just below last year’ sales. Over 650 shoppers came through our doors to shop our treasures!!

We could not have done it without you.  We especially want to thank the Clergy and the Sextons for their steady support, too.

Our next sale in 2025 will be our 50th!!!! What an exciting year ahead!!!

If you’re “vaguely middle-aged,” a parent or not, you’re invited to join us for a Pre-Thanksgiving Potluck at 5:30 PM on Saturday, November 16 at 5:30 PM in the George Thomas Room. Bring something to share. Thanksgiving foods are optional, but if you want to test your recipes before your guests show up, we can help! Childcare will be provided. 

Three weeks until Thanksgiving and the 17th running of the Turkey Trot.  There are about 550 slots remaining.  If you are planning on running/walking, register soon.  The race will be a sellout.  

We are still looking for volunteers – distributing bib and shirt packets on the days before the race, and all manner of jobs on Thanksgiving morning.

As most of you know, this is one of our major outreach activities.  100% of the net proceeds are distributed to our outreach partners – Arm in Arm, Capital Harmony Works, HomeFront, Housing Initiatives of Princeton, and Urban Promise.  Our efforts make a real difference to their ability do their amazing work.

As in years past, we are also collecting food for the Arm in Arm pantry.  See the website for details.

Grief is one of life’s most profound experiences. Many of us are simply not prepared for the level of sadness, isolation, and vulnerability that often result after losing someone we deeply love. We have expanded our gatherings and will offer two separate groups. Please join us as we share our journeys of grief, supported by God’s grace, Scripture, and one another.

Princeton Glee Club Events

Here at the Glee Club, we're very proud to announce that our upcoming 150th anniversary celebrations will kick off on November 15th with a performance in Richardson Auditorium by the unstoppable superstars of global a cappella - THE KING’S SINGERS - featuring a program of music curated specially for the occasion, and joined on stage by the Princeton University Glee Club for the world premiere of a new work by American composer Stacey V. Gibbs.

The celebrations continue on Saturday the 16th with a gala concert featuring around 350 past and present members of the Princeton University Glee Club, all singing together. Tickets can be reserved at tickets.princeton.edu

To end the weekend, we will have a chapel sing of Fauré’s Requiem on Sunday the 17th at 2:30pm in the Princeton University Chapel. All are welcome to attend! This event is free and unticketed.

Join us for a joyful celebration of the holiday season as talented performers come together for “Sing Out, My Soul!” presented by Voices Chorale NJ in collaboration with the Trenton Children’s Chorus.
The program features Vivaldi's masterful Gloria accompanied by a chamber ensemble, as well as contemporary choral compositions and arrangements that invoke the many moods of the holiday season.  It's sure to delight attendees as they celebrate this season of increased community and connection!
The Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, is an ever-popular favorite with audiences since its writing over 300 years ago. Voices Chorale is honored and excited to be joined by members of the acclaimed Capital Harmony Works’ Trenton Children’s Chorus as this Christmas story is depicted through Vivaldi’s masterful musical imagery.
The program then fast-forwards through the centuries, presenting old and new texts set to music by contemporary composers, from a heartfelt Hanukkah prayer to a song of rejoicing in Latin (Gaudete!). As a special touch, the audience is treated to side-by-side contrasting musical settings of the same texts to underscore their beauty through different musical prisms.
With the combined groups “singing out” together in “Sing Out, My Soul!” by Marques Garrett, there is truly something for everyone. Don’t miss this uplifting experience!

Dear Trinity,

Our dear Char is in need of some wheels. Being a recent seminary grad and continuing their academic work at Rutgers and Catholic Charities, they have many obligations that necessitate the need for reliable transportation. For the last six months, they have been relying on borrowing friends’ cars. If you or someone you know is willing to donate a car, sell one for a reasonable price, or loan one through May when they graduate, please reach out to me.
