ANNUAL MEETING 2025 NOVEMBER 9th

Dear Good People of Trinity Church,

We invite you to join us next Sunday, November 9, following the 10:30 a.m. service, for our Annual Meeting. This gathering is much more than a meeting to fulfill a canonical requirement—it is our annual Trinity family meeting: a time for us to come together, reflect on who we are, and consider how we continue the work of Trinity Church in the world.

Two matters will come before us for a vote or affirmation:

• The election of the Vestry Class of 2028 and approval of our appointed Youth Representative. You will see that we are blessed to have four very qualified candidates and a Youth Representative (to serve a one year term) that will certainly do a fantastic job representing the needs of Trinity.  In addition, Tom Scott has agreed to fill a vacancy in the Class of 2024. 

• The approval of the Bylaws. The Vestry has determined that while we have not previously had any official Bylaws now was a good time to put into writing what has been our traditional practices.  The Vestry has reviewed the document and approved it as presented. 

Information about both items can be found below. The full Annual Report will be shared later this week for your review.

Beyond these matters of business, this meeting is also a time for conversation—an opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, share ideas, and dream together. It’s a moment to give thanks, to challenge and encourage one another, and to celebrate the many ways God is at work among us. It is the people of Trinity Church living out what it means to be the Body of Christ.

This Sunday’s service of Choral Compline features music by Spanish Renaissance composers. Cristóbal de Morales lived in the early 16th century in southern and central Spain. Tomás Luis de Victoria lived in the second half of the 16th century and worked in both Spain and Italy. Both composers have a connection to the Spanish city of Ávila. Together, they represent the height of Renaissance music in Spain and they are each considered today to be the most important composer of their respective generations in the Iberian peninsula. Their music is characterized by smooth lines and unexpected florid flourishes that come out of nowhere to add a sense of lightness to the musical texture.

The theme this year is Autumn in England, with food and cocktails curated by our own Leslie Edwards to enjoy while bidding on items and experiences. 

Top lots of interest include a weekend in NYC at the Cornell Club, a festive Spanish dinner for 8, Tiffany jewelry, Nine and Dine with the Rector of Trinity Princeton, a night at the ballet with our Director of Music, and one day as honorary Police Chief of Princeton. 

There are lots of great things up for auction, both small and large!  Come, shop for Christmas for your loved ones, or bid on a treat for yourself, all while supporting our choirs for their upcoming tour to Westminster Abbey! 

Free childcare is available (RSVP requested) for this event. 

Admission is $50 per person for the auction, which includes dinner, two drinks, and dessert.

Congratulations to everyone for making it through the first days of the time change! It was wonderful to see so many of you at the church family breakfast on Sunday. We end the month in similar fashion with another breakfast and wreath-making on Sunday, November 30th. This breakfast will be hosted by the youth. Let us know if your family or child(ren) can help. Arm and Arm Urgent request for Food Pantry Volunteers

In response to the government shutdown, Arm in Arm, a core Trinity outreach partner, is activating an emergency plan to serve 250 additional families weekly by extending pantry hours at two sites.  Volunteers are urgently needed to help staff these additional shifts at the food pantries listed below. When I was a teenager, I was a great fan of the silly personality quizzes you could find in magazines. Pub Theology

This Monday, Kara will continue our discussion on the Kingdom of God with a special focus on time. If you've come before and had trouble hearing, we have now changed the seating format to make discussion groups smaller and easier to hear. Come on out and try it!

The Oregon Trailblazers

The Oregon Trailblazers (the fellowship group "for vaguely middle-aged people") are planning a pre-Thanksgiving Potluck on Saturday, November 15, at 5:30 PM.  If you're able to come, please RSVP at this link and let us know what you can bring. It doesn't have to be Thanksgiving food, but it can be!

2025 Turkey Trot

Turkey Trot is upon us. In less than four weeks, our circle will be over-run by all manner of turkey. It is a morning of fun, excitement, community, and support. 

It is an opportunity to burn off some of those calories in advance of the feast to come.  Our permit allows for 2500 participants. 

As of today, more than 1500 registrations have been received.  We have sold out in each of the last several years and almost surely will do so again in 2025.  If you are interested in running, I encourage to register soon.  Our website https://www.trinityturkeytrot.org. 

We also have volunteer opportunities if you want to participate but don’t really want to run.  Reach out to Jennifer Hayden is you would like to volunteer.

CHOIR TO LONDON

In August 2026, our choir will be on tour in the UK, first at Ely Cathedral and then at Westminster Abbey.

Trinity is putting together a trip for any parishioners who would like to support the choir while they are in London - and see the sights in London and beyond.

Whether you are a chorister parent, a spouse or friend of an adult choir member, or a Trinity parishioner who enjoys music, liturgy, and history, this trip is for you!

The tour will include day trips to Canterbury Cathedral and to Oxford, as well as activities in London itself. We will attend daily Evensong at Westminster Abbey, as well as the Sunday Eucharist at which Trinity's choir will sing.

Travel to the Holy Land

A couple of years back, some members of Trinity Church traveled with our Rector, Paul Jeanes, and The Rev. Keith Marsh and to the Holy Land.

It proved to be a marvelous and spiritually uplifting experience for all who made the pilgrimage! After retiring in June of 2023, Keith started Spirited Pilgrimages, a business devoted to planning, promoting and hosting unique, small-group pilgrimages around the world for people of faith.

Two pilgrimages have been planned for the fall of next year and you are invited to join: 

• The Footsteps of Paul – September 9-19, 2026 – travel through Turkey and Greece by land and sea - visit sites from the Book of Acts associated with St. Paul on his missionary journeys: Ephesus, Patmos, Corinth, Athens and more, including the islands of Crete and Santorini  

• Celtic Christianity – October 12-24, 2026 – follow the path of Christianity’s early years in the Celtic kingdoms, beginning in Ireland and expanding into Scotland and northern England – trace the spread of Celtic Christianity from its introduction by St. Patrick to its demise at the Council of Whitby.

These pilgrimages will be led by Keith, an experienced pilgrimage planner and host.
