Infants and Toddlers through age two
Room 202
Available Sunday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This program for babies six weeks to two years old is supervised by Sophia Liu, a childcare professional who is in her 19th year at Trinity Church. She provides a gentle, nurturing atmosphere with the assistance of her daughter Sophie as well as parents who help on a rotating co-op basis. We ask each family to assist twice during the year between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.
Pre-K
Room G13 and G10-the Atrium (basement level)
This class is taught by trained teachers working in teams, with parent assistance. Children aged 3 and 4 gather at 9:00 a.m. in room G13, then move to their “atrium” (Room G10) for the first part of class. This class uses the Montessori-inspired Godly Play curriculum developed by Jerome Berryman and Sonja Stewart through the Center for the Theology of Childhood. At 10:00 a.m. the children return to room G13 for snack and playtime. This second hour of class is supervised through the parent co-op rotation. (Pre-K children must be out of diapers)
Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Room G14 and the Atrium (basement level)
Children attend the 9:00 a.m. service with their families and then gather in the Thomas Room for singing time before they go to their classrooms. This class also follows the Godly Play curriculum described above. Parents scheduled for the snack co-op are asked to bring a snack to class by 10 a.m.
2nd Grade
Room 208 (Second floor)
Taught by our veteran teaching team of Connie White and Dorrit Fitzell, second graders follow the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum (ECC) developed by The Center for the Ministry of Teaching in Virginia. This flexible curriculum is rooted in Scripture and oriented to our children’s real-time world. Children attend the 9:00 a.m. service with their families and then gather in the Thomas room for singing time before they go to their classrooms. Parents scheduled for the snack co-op are asked to bring a snack to class by 10 a.m.
3rd & 4th Grades
Room 207 (Second floor)
This class follows the Mustard Seed curriculum, a creative approach to the Bible and faith that encourages critical thinking and questions from the children. Children attend the 9:00 a.m. service with their families and then gather in the Thomas room for singing time before they go to their classrooms. Parents scheduled for the snack co-op are asked to bring a snack to class by 10 a.m.
5th & 6th Grades
