Our Mission:

Housing Initiatives of Princeton (HIP) is dedicated to transitioning working families and individuals who are homeless or facing imminent homelessness to permanent housing and sustained self-sufficiency. HIP achieves its mission through the procurement and coordination of resources and member congregations, partner agencies, concerned individuals and businesses, Foundations, and Charitable Trusts. Transitional housing is provided to families and individuals for twelve to twenty-hour months along with individualized social services needed for them to succeed on their own.

Since 2004, we are proud to have housed and transitioned five families and four adult women. One family attained home ownership and the remainder an affordable apartment. Individual achievement enabled by HIP includes Phlebotomy Certification, completing a preparatory course for the NJ State Boards, attending Community College full-time on a Pell Grant, and receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Princeton University. While in residence, clients are assisted by a professional case manager and HIP board liason. Supportive services include budgeting, educational needs, job search activities, and help locating permanent affordable housing.

We currently house and provide a variety of social services for two families in Prescott House located in Princeton Borough.  A two family house rented from Trinity Church that has been lovingly renovated for transitional housing use.   A family will stay for twelve to eighteen months while they receive the assistance they need to get back on their feet.
