Pre-K to 1st Grade:  Godly Play

These classes are taught by trained teachers working in teams, with parent assistance. This class uses the Montessori-inspired Godly Play curriculum developed by Jerome Berryman and Sonja Stewart through the Center for the Theology of Childhood. Children gather and play for a few minutes, and then go together into their classroom where they begin the lesson for the day.

2nd-6th Grades:  Rock Solid Curriculum

This flexible curriculum is rooted in Scripture and oriented to our children’s real-time world. From the creators of Rock Solid:  With Rock Solid, children are given examples and then encouraged to apply the weekly Bible story and faith experience to their everyday lives. Children do more than just memorize Bible verses—they experience God’s message through consistency, community-building, application, and dedication and commitment. Rock Solid creates a sacred space for children to know God and become lifelong followers of Jesus.Rock Solid sessions are built on a firm foundation with a comprehensive 3-year journey through the Bible with story-based experiences rather than verse-based lessons. By learning the key Bible stories, children will be better able to understand and remember the Bible’s message. Rock Solid’s scope and sequence follows the church year.

Journey to Adulthood is a four-year program for youth consisting of two sections, each lasting two years. Students attend Rite-13 for the first two years, and J2A for the last two years. Through an in-depth exploration of the “4 S’s” (Self, Society, Sexuality, and Spirituality), students and leaders create a community that explores the skills needed for adulthood, celebrates their individuality, and develops their creative potential.

Classes aim to not only cover subject material in a thought-provoking manner, but to enable the youth to form a community of peers in which they find friendship and a safe, nonjudgmental place. Using the tool of J2A to walk with youth into adulthood, Trinity finds that the youth are not walking out the door, but are thinking of Trinity as their own.

The youths’ consistent class presence enables the program to achieve its potential. We stress the importance of regular attendance so they can get to know one another and their teachers, and form a community. This community foundation provides a feeling of security and confidence when delving into topics that relate to their daily lives and spiritual formation.
