Stewardship
Behold the vision--Stewardship 2010
“Being in a community of givers brings out the best in us, reminds us of what the world needs from us and what we have to give.”
“…live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ … standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel.”
—Philippians 1:21-27
The parishioners of Trinity Church are remarkable in the scope of their charitable involvement.
From the beginning of Creation, we humans have been handed responsibility for taking care of God’s world, both the environment in which we live, and the beings that inhabit it. The causes we care about — eliminating poverty, promoting education, providing health care, protecting air and water, ending violence, fighting discrimination, demanding justice, seeking peace — are what we do as God’s appointed stewards.
You can’t be a steward without being a giver. Stewardship is about deciding what you really care about and then committing your time, attention, and resources.
How can I give back?
A church is an unusual organization in today's world. A church is not a place where one come to only "receive". A church is not the theater (though it can be entertaining), not a school (though you often learn something), and not a concert hall (though music is beautiful).
A church is a community. A church is a group of people who love God, (or at least have questions about God!), who gather together to worship, to ask questions, to love one another, and to give back to the community. There are two primary ways to support Trinity Episcopal Church: volunteering and stewardship.
Stewardship
Trinity is completely supported by its membership. Part of the commitment of becoming a member of a church is the commitment to help contribute financially to its ministry. Your gift to Trinity helps pay salaries, contributes to outreach programs, upkeep of the building, supplies for the choir and Sunday Schools, and much, much more. The traditional amount given in the Bible was called a "tithe" and was ten percent of a person's income. However, nowadays we encourage people to pray and to discern what percentage of your income you can give on a monthly or yearly basis to help support your church.
Traditionally, a stewardship campaign will begin in the autumn of every year. You will be asked to make a pledge, which is the amount of money you intend to give over the course of a year. However, if you join our parish mid-year, you can make a pledge at any time.
If you have questions about the spirituality of stewardship or what might be an appropriate amount for you to give, you can contact a priest. If you would like to make a pledge and receive pledge envelopes, you can contact Parish Administrator Annie Thomas at 609-924-2277 or thomasa@trinityprinceton.org. There is also a web pledge form and PayPal donation form on this web site.
