Hunger Fund: TASK Holiday Celebrations

Celebrating Life!

TASK recognize that for many of their patrons, the only place that a holiday or special event will be honored is at TASK. The TASK staff — with the help of loyal volunteers — observe the following holidays and special occasions:

TASK celebrates Halloween with a party for area children and their families. Children´s activities include face painting, pumpkin decorating, and holiday cupcakes and candy.

Thanksgiving is always a busy day at TASK! They serve a full Thanksgiving dinner, and each patron is given an additional hot meal to take home along with a mid-day bag and a bag of candy. Some 100 volunteers come together annually to make this day possible. (The community of the Tollgate School in Pennington has been providing food and decorations for this special event since 1987, and Timberlane School has been providing take-home mid-day bags for patrons.). TASK benefits from the Mercer Country Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot not to be confused with the Trinity Turkey Trot.

Christmas Dinner

for 600 —

Christmas Day is a hugh day for not only the TASK staff but for 60 some volunteers. The dinner goes from 10AM until 2PM. The TASK Executive Director Joyce Campbell will be with us at our First Sunday Breakfast on December 1st to accomplish two things. First to get 6 good volunteers from Trinity to join the Christmas Day dinner.  The volunteer slots are coveted by those that serve. Trinity Hunger Fund collection for the Second Sunday in December (December 8) will again be dedicated to helping pay for the TASK Christmas dinner. This is Trinity’s 3rd year of helping that way. That Hunger Fund collection raises about $1500 a year thanks to generous Trinity contributors. Let Ann Zultner or Bill Vogt know if you are willing to be a volunteer for this Christmas Day meal.

End of Year Holiday Season

Annual Holiday festivities at TASK bring together members of the community for meals as well as gift distribution for both children and adults.

TASK is open every Monday through Friday, even on holidays. On major holidays that fall on weekdays, including Christmas or Thanksgiving, TASK serves a full, hot, nutritious, traditional meal at lunch time that includes take-home treats.

We also give holiday gifts, including hats, scarves, gloves, crayons and coloring books, and stuffed animals, to all TASK patrons during the Christmas season.

Trinity Hunger Fund has five partners in the fight to eliminate hunger: Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Mercer Street Friends, Bread for the World, Arm in Arm and Episcopal Relief and Development program.
